Cleveland Browns @ Atlanta Falcons Week 4 2022 Preview

Image
The Atlanta Falcons face their first AFC opponent of the season in the 2-1 Cleveland Browns. Kevin Stefanski's side have had a extra three days to prepare for this, after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 3's Thursday night football. The Browns are playing without Deshaun Watson until week 11, due to suspension, so Jacoby Brissett is their quarterback following the offseason trade of Baker Mayfield to Carolina. Cleveland really should be 3-0, but a late collapse in week two against the Jets, where they allowed New York to recover an onside kick, saw them inexplicably lose after leading by 13 points with just 90 seconds left. This could be a high scoring game, as it is a meeting of two top 10 scoring offenses. Head to Head Browns D vs  Falcons O It'll be a match up of strength vs strength as the leagues 5th best rush attack in Atlanta goes up against Cleveland's 7th best rush defense which is allowing just 83.7 yards rushing per game. Only Nick Chubb and Saquon B...

Atlanta Falcons 27-23 Seattle Seahawks: Falcons hold on for impressive first win of the season

Image
The Atlanta Falcons won their first game of the 2022 season, with a 27-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Atlanta's offense impressed throughout, thanks in large part to a career rushing day for Cordarelle Patterson. Dean Pees defense was frustrating to watch, but stepped up when it was needed most to seal the victory. It improves the Falcons record to 1-2 ahead of a clash with the Cleveland Browns next Sunday. Arthur Smith's Falcons have a knack of turning up on the road, recording their 7th road victory in two years under his tutelage.  The Game The first half was entertaining for those, who love offensive football, the offenses went back and forth exchanging scores. Atlanta emphasized getting Kyle Pitts the ball early on. Pitts was the highest rated Falcon according to PFF with a 93.2 overall grade. He had a 21 yard reception, that set up a Marcus Mariota read option rushing touchdown to give the Falcons a 7-3, following a Jason Myers field goal. The Seahawks offensive line d...

Atlanta Falcons @ Seattle Seahawks Week 3 2022 Preview

Image
The Atlanta Falcons stay on the west coast this weekend with a trip to the 1-1 Seattle Seahawks. The major change in Seattle from previous seasons is at quarterback. The Seahawks traded future hall of fame QB Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade to the Denver Broncos. His replacement is journeyman Geno Smith. Although they beat Wilson new team Denver in week, Seattle look like a team who'll be picking in the top 10 of the NFL Draft in my opinion. Seattle's home field advantage is revered around the league, but I think Atlanta can get their first win of the season, despite being 1 point road underdogs. The last time these two teams met was in 2020 ,with Seattle running out winners 38-20 in Atlanta. The Seattle Seahawks lead the all time series 12-8-0. Arthur Smith's Falcons have been better on the road under his guidance winning six road games to just one at home. The Seahawks are 6-4 at home (1-0 this season) in their last ten games. Under Pete Carroll, Seattle have won 70...

Atlanta Falcons 27-31 Los Angeles Rams: Falcons comeback falls short

Image
A Jalen Ramsey end zone interception sealed a nail-biting victory for the Los Angeles Rams as the Atlanta Falcons came dangerously close to pulling off an incredible win in SoFi Stadium. The Atlanta Falcons fought hard against the Los Angeles Rams, but their second half comeback fell short. Atlanta falls to 0-2 in the NFC South, and they will stay on the west coast, facing the Seattle Seahawks on the road next Sunday. Although Sunday ended it defeat, the Falcons showed their 2022 squad has a lot more character, than recent Falcons teams have had. The Game A promising opening Falcons drive stuttered near the Rams redzone, when Bobby Wagner rushed untouched through the B gap and sacked Marcus Mariota. Younghoe Koo missed his resulting 44 yard field goal on 4th down. A brilliantly choreographed Rams drive was capped off with a 1 yard touchdown grab by Allen Robinson, who beat AJ Terrell with a fade route. Terrell was beaten with ease and has been a concern through two weeks. Rams done a g...

Atlanta Falcons @ LA Rams Week 2 2022 Preview

Image
Following an embarrassing home loss to the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons face a daunting road trip to LA to face the defending Superbowl champions the LA Rams. Atlanta opened up as 10.5 point underdogs, the biggest underdog of week two. The Rams are coming off the back of a humbling home loss to the Buffalo Bills. LA have the advantage of an extra three days rest. The last time these 2 teams met was in October 2019, where the Rams ran out 37-10 winners in Atlanta. Under Arthur Smith, the Atlanta Falcons have won more games on the road (6), than they have at home (1). On their way to a 12-5 record, LA went 5-3 at home in 2021; the season ended with them being crowned Superbowl winners on home turf. Quarterback Matt Stafford is 2-3 against the Falcons in his career.  Head to Head Falcons D vs  Rams O The Falcons are facing a Rams offense that allowed seven sacks in week one vs. the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo didn't blitz the Rams at all in the season opener, they were able...

New Orleans Saints 27-26 Atlanta Falcons: Falcons choke away 16 point fourth quarter lead

Image
The Atlanta Falcons suffered an embarrassing week one loss to their arch rivals the New Orleans Saints. Atlanta inexcusably blew a 16 point fourth quarter lead to break their fans hearts once again. It is the 8th time since Superbowl 51, the Falcons have blown a double digit lead. The team can change quarterbacks, players and coaches, but the club's inability to put games away seems ingrained in their DNA. Atlanta has lost 10 of their last 16 games, in which they have led after 3 quarters of play. The Falcons are 5-3 in games they have held a 15 point lead after three quarters over the last 3 seasons, compared to the rest of the NFL, who are 245-2-1 in said games. The Game Atlanta opened the game with a 10 play drive that ended with a Younghoe Koo 54 yard field goal. Taysom Hill scored the opening touchdown of the game with an 11 yard rush, Hill had set up the Saints in the redzone with a 57 yard power run two plays earlier. 7-3 Saints. Olamide Zaccheaus gifted possession to New Or...

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons Week 1 2022 Preview

Image
The Atlanta Falcons kick off their 2022 NFL Season the same way they ended last season, with a home game against their arch rivals New Orleans Saints. Arthur Smiths led Atlanta to a 7-10 record in his first year as Head Coach, splitting the series with the Saints 1-1. The drastic change out of New Orleans this off season, is the departure of long time head coach Sean Payton. His replacement is Dennis Allen, who got a promotion, after six impressive years as the teams defensive coordinator. New Orleans manhandled Atlanta in January when the two teams last met, running out 30-20 winners, but the game was more one sided than the scoreline suggests. In their last 10 meetings, the Saints have been dominant racking up seven wins to the Falcons three. Despite this, Atlanta are 7-1 all time in season openers against their fierce rivals. Head to Head Saints D vs  Falcons O For the first time since 2007, Matt Ryan is not the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Marcus Mariota is the...
